Security Technician - Part Time

The position requires the ability to follow orders, recognize and report illegal or suspicious activity, and possess physical and mental abilities to operate a vehicle, as needed. Responds to the needs of the Airport Police in monitoring security cameras. Must be capable of watching video images for extended periods, while still recognizing, comprehending, and reporting suspicious activity. Duties will be performed on airport property and inside the OAA Communications Center.

  • Monitor CCTV operations to ensure compliance with Airport safety or security policies or regulations.
  • Observe individuals' activities to gather information or compile evidence.
  • Operate surveillance equipment to detect suspicious or illegal activities.
  • Discuss performance, complaints, or violations with supervisors.
  • Assist in directing security operations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a valid Nebraska or Iowa driver's license. Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking clearly in the English language, and be able to understand task procedures and instructional information regarding the proper operation of equipment necessary for job responsibilities listed above.

  • Experience in computer and CCTV camera systems preferred
  • Attention to Detail: CCTV Operators must be able to identify small, seemingly insignificant details that most people would overlook. This ability allows them to keep the area as safe as possible.
  • Ability to Multitask: Even when a CCTV Operator receives a phone call or has to speak to a colleague, they must always be keeping an eye on the monitors.
  • Ability to Work Independently: For the most part, CCTV Operators will not be required to interact with very many people. Because of this, it is important that they’re able to work and stay alert without constant supervision.

Communication Skills: Since CCTV Operators will occasionally have to give statements to police officers, communicate with emergency services or even appear in court, they need to have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must successfully complete a background check, pre-employment physical including a negative drug screen, cannot be colorblind, and pass fingerprint & security checks to obtain an Airport ID Badge.
