POSITION SUMMARY

Conducts remote video surveillance, security inspections of merchandise and persons in support and under the supervision of the Airport Police Department.  Duties will be performed on airport property and inside the OAA Communications Center.

Shift hours are traditionally  5am to noon, noon to 7pm, 7pm to 1am or to be determined by Police Command. Each employee is normally limited to a work week of less than 30 hours, possibly on various shifts as scheduled.  The position requires the ability to follow orders, follow specified security protocols, recognize and report illegal or suspicious activity, and possess physical and mental abilities to operate a vehicle, if needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.         Monitors CCTV and security images via computer, television and projected images in the OAA Communications Center. Also, would be expected to observe, recognize, comprehend and report suspicious activities in support of Airport Police Security operations.

2.         At random times or when directed, be physically present to monitor security portals.

3.         Conduct security inspections of merchandise and persons, following protocols established by the airport and Transportation Security Administration.

4.         Perform security-related duties at designated locations on airport property.

5.         Performs other duties, as assigned, in support of Airport Police safety and security.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

1.         Graduate from High School or GED Certificate. 

2.         Able to operate a handheld radio as used for radio-to-radio communications, with the ability to read, write and speak the English language in a clear and concise manner.

3.         Must have vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, cannot be color blind, and must be able to view and distinguish images on computer, projector and television screens for extended periods.

4.         Must be capable of reading, hearing and understanding task procedures and instructional information associated with job-related duties and equipment.

5.         Must possess valid Nebraska or Iowa operator’s license.  Driving history records check will be conducted.
